On January 1, Mark McDaniel will take the chair’s seat on the board of ABC Baltimore.
McDaniel comes to the board leadership role with more than three decades in the construction industry. He began working for NLP, the family’s commercial painting business, as a project engineer in 1988. The company was started by McDaniel’s brother, Bob, who was 24 years his senior.
A real go-getter, McDaniel was simultaneously pursuing his bachelor’s degree in business and psychology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County, from which he graduated in 1993. He worked his way up the corporate ladder, assuming the role of president in January 2018. (Bob, who served as CEO, passed in January 2019.)
Dedicated to merit shop values, McDaniel began serving as a board member of ABC Baltimore in January 2012. He became vice chairman in January 2018.
When asked about his vision for his upcoming year at ABC, McDaniel had this to say: “Previous boards have identified the need to create more skilled labor. In my tenure, I need to help execute that plan. Especially coming out of the gate with the new Construction Education Academy, it’s important we don’t stumble. My whole theme is I want ABC to help people not only to get jobs, but to build careers.”
You’ll be hearing more about Mark McDaniel’s plans for ABC Baltimore in 2020 in upcoming issues of Building Baltimore Magazine.
McDaniel plans to be at ABC’s Annual Gala. Be sure to give him a hearty welcome.
