“One of the biggest economic turnarounds in America.” That’s what Governor Larry Hogan called the U.S. Department of Labor’s November jobs data for Maryland, according to WJZ-Baltimore. From August to November 2019, Maryland gained 32,000 jobs, marking the biggest stretch of employment growth since 2010. The state’s unemployment rate also remained steady at 3.6 percent, in line with U.S. unemployment at 3.5 percent, and down from 5.4 percent in 2015.
Maryland’s economy added 9,800 jobs in November alone. Of those, 400 positions were in the construction industry. The biggest jobs gain was in professional and business services, which added 4,700 positions in November.
