On January 17, The Women in ABC’s Kathy Humm with Harkins Builders sponsored a group of middle school girls at two commercial projects in Columbia, Maryland. The goal of the day was to educate the female students from Garrison Forest School in Owings Mills on the careers available to women in construction.
Both job sites are in the Columbia-area, one being the Lincoln Financial Group and McDonough, Bolyard and Peck offices off of Little Patuxent Parkway and WMS Partners offices at the 1 Merriweather Building in Columbia. Harkins’ Ellen Cascio, project manager of both tenant fitout projects, led the group. The students toured both job sites and learned the various careers necessary to a construction project.
