Members from ABC Baltimore and the Maryland Minority Contractors Association are working together to persuade City Council members that legislation that imposes a union-only ‘project labor agreement’ on City projects $15 million and more would have a devastating impact on local workers and Baltimore-based contractors.

In a conversation with other City-based contractors, P&J Contractors President Pless Jones talked about the devastating impact a union-only agreement would have on a City workforce that is 90 percent non-union. “What this bill really does is eliminate competition. So that gives the union the sole run of the city and pushes us out, pushes all our workers out, pushes out the people in the city who needs jobs.”

Jeff Hargrave, President of Mahogany, Inc., added “so the people that the bill is trying to help, are going to be the people that are going to be hurt.”
