4-week program to promote construction careers funded by Apprenticeship Trust Fund contributions

This past Friday, 17 Perry Hall High School students, comprised of recent grads and in-coming seniors, received their certificates of completion from the community college and ABC for having successfully completed the Construction Tech Academy.

The CTA introduces students to construction careers, provides them with safety training, hands on experience, an introduction to carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work all within 100 hours of classroom training. During the four-week program, ABC brings in construction employers where they talk about the career opportunities available in the skilled trades. On the final day of class, each student is interviewed by an ABC member firm for a possible job. Last year, three fifths of the students were placed with member firms.
