Local Students Showcase Carpentry Skills

Upnext

On April 29th, 14 Maryland high school students participated in this year’s SkillsUSA Maryland State Carpentry Competition; a showcase for the best career and technical students locally and nationally. For over 30 years, ABC Baltimore and its member companies have sponsored the competition. The contestants are administered written tests and are judged on a wood and metal carpentry project. ABC Baltimore’s Michelle Butt, Wayne Temple of Oak Contracting, and Michael Walker of Lewis Contractors judged the projects.

Cameron White of Parksdale High School won first place in the competition, while Joe Malin of Carroll County Career and Technology Center placed second, and Oscar Serrano of Thomas Edison High School of Technology placed third. White will compete in the national competition that takes place in Louisville, KY in June.
