On September 21st, ABC Greater Baltimore held an event that many in the industry have nicknamed “Speed Networking.”
“Meet the Primes” featured five participating General Contractors who arrived to meet and greet over forty qualified subcontractors to discuss the possibility of future collaboration. Chesapeake Contracting Group, CK Commercial, Cross Street Partners, The Mullan Contracting Company and Turner Construction Company set up shop in five different classrooms at the Construction Education Academy. In a series of individual timed sessions, the subs and General Contractors exchanged business cards, work histories and mutual goals in the hopes of someday working together.
Daniel Strauch, co-founder of Aliceanna Collective explained, “There are a lot of great people here tonight. And I learned where they can use us and how we can help them.”
Belinda Hoffsmith from Walters Services traveled from Pennsylvania to, “…meet some of the GC’s that are working here in the Baltimore area.”
Many of the conversations got down to specifics according to Ryan Collier from Shickel Corporation. “I met a couple of people who said they really need ornamental metal on a couple of their jobs!”
Each room was sponsored by friends of ABC Greater Baltimore. Banks, lawyers, suppliers and more associated members introduced each General Contractor at the beginning of the session and had the opportunity to establish new business relationships with the subs – a win-win for all. In an age where experienced and capable tradespeople are getting harder to find, ABC Greater Baltimore has made the process reliable, straightforward and trouble-free.
