What made you want to join the construction industry?
I enjoy being a part of something greater than its parts. Seeing a building go from concept, design, out of the ground, to completion is exhilarating. Love pointing out past projects to family and friends.
What does being a woman in construction mean to you?
That as we demand a seat at the table there is a mutual respect that needs to be given to the men that have and continue to help open the door to inclusion.
How can you help educate young women that may be considering entering the industry or that don’t know about opportunities in the industry?
Whether girls or boys I am a firm believer in reaching out to middle school level students and getting them exposure to the trades. Opening up a live job site to tour is an eye-opening experience for them. Providing career paths and supporting apprenticeship and continued higher education is essential to solving our industry’s manpower needs.
