‘SPEC’ program aimed at making industry safer

At ABC’s annual State of the Industry event held last month, Kelly M. Schulz, Maryland Secretary of Labor, Licensing, & Regulation announced a new partnership that recognizes and encourages superior safety practices. The program, named SPEC (Strategic Partnership for Excellence in Construction Safety) is the result of a year-long effort between ABC and the secretary’s office.

The SPEC program is based upon ABC’s Safety Training and Evaluation Program (STEP).  Participating contractors can realize significant benefits.  One of the stipulations made by MOSH is that any contractor who wishes to participate in the SPEC program, must be willing to sit on the ABC Safety Committee.

There will be informational meetings scheduled for General Contractors and Speciality Contractors, respectively.

  • GC/CM INFO MEETING: Wednesday, January 10; 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Specialty /Trade Contractor: Wednesday, January 17; 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
