On Monday, September 11, ABC Baltimore’s apprenticeship program welcomed its largest class of first year students to date. A record-breaking 210 students are enrolled in their first year of apprenticeship where they will study and practice the trades alongside mentors.

Chris Hadfield, ABC’s Director of Education is thrilled about the program’s expansion.

“Over the past four years we have seen a rise in interest and enrollment in the apprenticeship program,” said Hadfield. “We attribute this success to the increased emphasis on the need for skilled workers in the Baltimore community and the recent ‘Build Baltimore Gala’.”

2017 marks many new changes for the program including the installment of ABC’s ‘Craft Competition and Member Network.’ The event to be held on October 26 at the Timonium Fairgrounds is the first of its kind for the Baltimore chapter.

“We are excited to showcase the abilities of our apprentices as they compete to advance to the National Craft Championship next February, said Hadfield. “This event gives members the opportunity to connect to the program and see what great work the apprentices do.”
