Build Baltimore Gala FAQs

What is a ‘Party Pack of Ten Tickets’?

Since this year’s gala will be open seating, instead of selling tickets as a ‘table’, you will be purchasing ten individual tickets to the event.

If I get a party pack of tickets, will all my guests be seated together?

This year the dinner will be served through the food vendors only.  There will not be a seated dinner or assigned seating. Seating is open, and you are more than welcome to sit with your guests.

If there is no seated dinner, what will there be to eat?

All the food will be provided by restaurant vendors, in addition to a few action stations provided by the hotel.   Some of the featured restaurants include: Ekiben, Jimmy’s Seafood, Mother Shuckers, La Cuchara, Mexican on the Run, Points South Latin Kitchen, Full Tilt Brewery, Sagamore Distillery & Charm City Meadworks.

Will I be able to sit at all?

There will be scattered tables and chairs throughout the pre-function space as well as in the ballroom, but plan to be on your feet more than years’ past – wear comfortable shoes!

Will I receive a physical ticket to this event?

No, we will have your name and your guest’s name on a guest list at the registration desk.  If you have not submitted your guests’ names, please do so by clicking here.

The attire is “Baltimore Chic”, what does that mean?

It’s fun, it’s whimsical & it’s open to interpretation!  Click here for what to wear.  Click here for what NOT to wear!

If there is not a seated dinner, what will there be to eat?

We are featuring over 10 different food & beverage vendors to serve various cuisine based on different regions of the world.  There will be themed rooms that will host various vendors and specialty drinks. This part of the evening will go from 7 to 9 pm.

What is different about the program this year?

The program will be much shorter!  You will hear from the employers and graduates of Project JumpStart briefly and then there will be an opportunity to make pledges towards the program as well as purchase some great live auction items.  The live auction will be hosted by C4 of WBAL and Eric DeCosta, the new GM of the Baltimore Ravens!

Is there a VIP Reception for top level sponsors this year?

Yes!  Eric DeCosta will be hosting the VIP reception from 7:30 to 8:15 pm in the Waterview Ballroom (1st floor of the hotel) for “Master Craftsperson”, “The Entrepreneur”, “The Artisan” & “The Journeyperson” level sponsors.

What is the parking like at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel?

You can either valet park at the entrance to the hotel for $45 per car or you can self-park in the PMI garage attached to the hotel for $26.

Will we be able to pay for our parking prior to leaving the event?

Yes, and we encourage you to do so to avoid a back up in the parking garage.  There will be a pay station attendant at the check-in desk where you can pre-pay for your parking.

Where in the hotel is our event being held?

The event is on the fourth floor of the Marriott Waterfront hotel.  We will have that entire floor and ballroom for our event. Please check in at the registration desk on the fourth floor upon arrival.

Will there be a silent auction this year?

Yes!  Look for new and fun items to bid on in the pre-function space throughout the evening.  The silent auction will close ½ hour prior (10:30 pm) to the end of the event.

Is there a discount for staying in the Marriott Waterfront the night of the event?

Yes, you can click here to reserve a room at the hotel for the discounted rate of $199 per room.
